This is an opportunity for the seasoned Dutch Oven Cook(s). Be a Teacher!
Also a great opportunity for those that want to learn something new.
“Friends of the Fort” in associations with the Old Mormon Fort, Nevada State Parks, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Is looking for someone to teach Dutch Oven 101. If successful in getting a commitment from someone to instruct, they will then be seeking out participating students.
“Friends of the Fort” (Las Vegas Old Mormon Fort State Park) is putting together Dutch Oven Cooking Classes. They are in need of an instructor(s).
Several years ago they started offering Blacksmith classes. Those have been very successful.
Now they wish to start teaching Dutch Oven 101. It would be held on a Saturday, and anticipated to involve about 4 hours per class.
Students would learn how to select a Dutch Oven. How to care for the Dutch Oven. Then actually prepare some simpler recipes, such as a dump cake or cobbler. This whole format needs put together.
They are thinking of putting together a printed booklet which would be supplied to each student.
Students will pay a fee for the program. They are kicking around a $30-$40 Registration fee per student. Class sizes expected to be around 30 students. The Friends of the Fort would take a small portion of fee’s collected. The instructor would receive most of the remaining fee’s collected.
The Classes would be sold by FOF (Friends of the Fort) and held at the Old Mormon Fort, in Las Vegas, Nevada. So the event would be covered under their (FOF) insurance, as well as the State Parks insurance.
This is all in the preliminary stage and very flexible. Much will depend on whoever may commit to be a teacher/instructor. Then the input from that person as well.
They are hoping to kick this off this coming Fall season (October 2021) Starting with one or two classes to see where it goes.
If you are the type of person, a couple, or even a Dutch Oven Cooking Group, that has a mentor/teacher/instructor mindset. Or just loves cooking with Dutch Ovens. This is a great opportunity to also have some fun passing on your skills. But it does require a commitment to be there once promised.
